How long is the transfer from Malpensa to Milan city centre?
Typically 45 to 55 minutes under normal traffic conditions. The route covers approximately 49km via the A8 motorway. During peak hours (7:30 to 9:30am and 5:00 to 7:00pm on weekdays) we recommend allowing an extra 15 minutes. We monitor traffic in real time and adapt the route where needed.
Is the Malpensa Express train faster than a private transfer?
The train takes 35 to 52 minutes to reach Centrale or Cadorna station, but it drops you at a train station — not your hotel or office. With luggage you then need a taxi or metro, adding 15 to 30 minutes and extra cost. For solo travellers with a single bag the train is a reasonable choice. For families, groups, business travellers with luggage, or anyone going beyond central Milan, a private transfer is significantly more practical and door to door.
